THE PROCESS

What happens

when you book

a consultation?

No lengthy intake forms. No waiting weeks for an appointment. Just a straightforward process that gets you from “I need help” to “I have a plan” as quickly as possible.

Every consultation is with Candice directly. Not an associate. Not a junior consultant. The person who built this ~ who has lived every part of the system you’re navigating.

The written report you receive afterward is designed to be shared. Hand it to your FSCD caseworker, your child’s school, or your clinical team. It documents your situation, your goals, and your recommended next steps in language those systems will recognize.

1. Complete the short booking form
Tell Candice your child’s age, your most pressing challenge, and what a useful outcome looks like for you.
Takes about 3 minutes.

2. Receive a confirmed appointment
You’ll get a calendar invite for a virtual or in-person session ~ typically within 5–7 business days of booking.

3. The consultation
60 minutes. Candice asks questions, listens, and maps your situation. No script ~ the conversation goes where your family needs it to go.

4. Your written report
Within 3 business days you receive a personalized summary ~ resources, referrals, next steps, and questions to ask your team.

Shareable and actionable.

5. Decide what comes next
Continue with the ongoing package, book a follow-up, or use the report to move forward independently. No pressure either way.

WHAT FAMILIES SAY

Families who've been where you are.

"The hour that we spent with Candice was more informative and productive than any of the other specialists we have connected with thus far. We both felt so seen and heard - and she left us with not only tools we can use going forward but hope for the future."

- Ben F.

"Candice was great and so easy to talk to. She really GOT IT and I feel more prepared for next steps with all the info and resources I was given."

- Morgan L.

"Candice really changed how I see my role as a parent. I went in feeling like I was failing the system, and left feeling like the system had been failing me...and now I know how to push back."

- Pat M.

"I've always had interventions and supports for my daughter but I've never really had anyone support me individually or us as a family. After meeting with Candice I felt heard and understood… Janzen Family Care was a service I didn't know I needed until I got it."

- Sharron W.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Questions families ask before booking.

Is this therapy or counselling?
No. Janzen Consulting Group is a navigation and advocacy service, not a clinical or therapeutic service. Candice helps families understand systems, access funding, and prepare for meetings. She does not provide psychological treatment. Chris Janzen’s R.Psych. services are separate and referral-based.

Can I get funding help for this service?
It may be eligible for insurance coverage under psychology services if a consultation is reviewed and signed by Chris Janzen, a registered psychologist. Some FSCD & PDD funding agreements may also cover family navigation services. Candice can help you explore this.

What if one session isn’t enough?
You can book a follow-up anytime or transition into the ongoing package at the monthly rate with no penalty.

Can I share the written report?
Yes. It is designed for schools, FSCD caseworkers, and clinical teams. It is written in language they can act on.

Is there a cancellation policy?
More than 24 hours notice: reschedule at no cost.
Within 24 hours: may have a rebooking fee.
Ongoing packages: cancel with 30 days written notice.

Do you only work with Alberta families?
The majority of our work is Alberta-specific ~ FSCD, Alberta Education, AHS. Virtual sessions are available province-wide. Families outside Alberta are welcome but should know recommendations are most relevant within Alberta.

Contact us anytime if you have other questions.
