Two Paths.

One Family.

You Choose What Support Fits

Families may choose:

•
Independent Psychology Services
Work directly with Chris Janzen, Registered Psychologist, for psychological assessment or other clinical psychology services.

• Family Navigation
Work with Bridging Barriers for practical, non-clinical navigation and support.

•
Both
Choose both when the family wants clinical services and navigation support to work alongside one another.

When Families Choose Both, We Help Bridge the Gap.

When families choose both, the services remain independent, but can be connected with the family's authorization. Clinical recommendations can help inform navigation, and navigation can help families put those recommendations into practice.

WHY FAMILIES CHOOSE US

More Than a Diagnosis.

A Plan That Works in Real Life.

Many families receive reports, recommendations, and diagnoses…

then wonder: “NOW WHAT?”

THAT'S WHERE WE ARE DIFFERENT.

When families choose both, independent clinical recommendations and family navigation can work together to help turn assessment into practical action at home, at school and in the community.

Insurance and Funding Options

Getting the Right Support Shouldn’t Feel Overwhelming

Every family’s situation is different.

Depending on your child’s needs, support goals, and available coverage,

there may be several pathways to access services.

We can help families explore options such as:

Extended Health Benefits

Many employer or private benefit plans may include coverage for services provided by a Registered Psychologist, including assessments, counselling, and mental health treatment.

Psychology Coverage
Coverage amounts, referral requirements, and eligible services vary by provider. Families are encouraged to review their benefits or contact their insurance provider directly.

Family Guidance
Not sure where to start? Janzen Consulting can help families understand possible funding pathways, organize questions, and prepare for conversations with providers, caseworkers, or benefit companies.

Disability Supports in Alberta
Some families may be eligible for government funded disability supports, including programs such as Family Support for Children with Disabilities. Eligibility and approved services vary based on each family’s individual agreement.

Not sure where to start?

Our Family Support Pathway Assessment™ helps us understand your child’s needs, your family’s goals, current supports, and possible funding options so we can recommend the right next steps, whether that includes consultation support, community resources, funding guidance, or optional independent clinical referrals.

FAQ

Can I use insurance?

If your benefit plan includes coverage for services provided by a Registered Psychologist, psychological assessments, counselling, or treatment may be eligible for reimbursement. Coverage varies by provider and plan, so we always recommend checking directly with your insurance company.

FAQ image

Can FSCD help?

Some families receiving support through Family Support for Children with Disabilities may have funding that supports disability-related services based on their child’s approved agreement, goals, and identified needs. Funding is determined by FSCD and is not guaranteed for all services.

FAQ image

Do I need a referral?

In many cases, psychological services do not require a physician referral. However, some insurance plans may request one for reimbursement. It is always best to confirm directly with your benefits provider before booking.

FAQ image

Can school concerns be included?

Yes. Concerns related to learning, behaviour, emotional regulation, executive functioning, attention, social development, and school success can often be important parts of a comprehensive assessment.

While schools may use assessment recommendations to better support your child, educational services and funding decisions remain separate from clinical or disability related services.

Clinical psychology services are provided independently by registered professionals.

Janzen Consulting Group/Bridging Barriers does not provide psychological services or submit insurance claims on behalf of independent providers.
